Where are you watching the World Cup?
Tim Colman
With the Socceroos actually looking like becoming regular combatants in the World Cup tournament Australians are actually watching soccer, or football as the rest of the world calls it. While our country’s geographical location generally offers a reasonable climate all year round it does mean we’re forced to watch the big World Cup matches at some lonely point in the morning when the only other thing on TV are infomercials.
Getting friends together at this hour, actually just pulling yourself out of bed, is always a difficult proposition. Hopefully the World Cup Venue Planner makes things that little bit easier.
The concept is pretty simple. First, pick your state, followed by a match. (Hint: Australia v Germany, Monday 14 June at 4:30am. Ouch!!) Next choose a venue - pub or sports club - screening the game nearby. If you can’t decide let the TrueLocal user reviews guide you. Last step is to invite your friends through Facebook via an automatically created Event. You don’t even have to call anyone.
There’s nothing worse then turning up to your local early in the morning, keen to watch a game and finding it shut. The Venue Planner has confirmed the listed venues will be screening the game you choose. Whether the venue lets you in will depend on the celebratory mood you’re in.
Don’t forget to review the venue on TrueLocal after the big game.
