Gyms: donor or junkie?
Belinda Humphries
“How’s your training going mate?” is the question posed to me nearly every time I see my friend Robin. I’m working towards running 8km at the Mother’s Day Classic in May. Robin is amazingly supportive yet a little wackier than I - he’s got his eye on a marathon . Yes, that’s 42kms!
The Mother’s Day Classic marks the kick-off of fun run season. If you’re that way inclined, no doubt you’re doing some training. Now it’s getting a little cooler I can’t think of anything worse than being outside at stupid ‘o clock in the morning, even if I am running. I much prefer the warm, comfy and friendly environment of my gym.
Which brings me to this week’s discussion, I’m absolutely in love with my gym, the trainers are friendly and everyone knows your name. So what I’d like to know is, what is it that keeps you going back to your gym? Maybe you’ve had a different experience? Have you wanted to cancel a gym membership? Are you a donor, in that you pay your fees but never go, or are you a self-proclaimed gym junkie?
I guess I’m a gymless junkie.
Often training but haven’t stepped inside a gym for years. You’ll smash the 8k run
Didn’t I challenge you to a half marathon B?Robin the Wacko of
